Chelsea owner, oligarch, and thrower of boss NYE parties Roman Abramovich is in the midst of a fierce battle with Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid to be the owner of the world’s biggest yacht. If there were a feature in Star Magazine called “Oligarchs! They’re Just Like Us!” this would be a lead story because when I accidentally found myself in the South once I saw two hicks with monster trucks doing the exact same thing. Anyway, the Daily Mail reports that current owner of the world’s largest yacht, Roman, was forced into carrying out urgent extensions on his private super yacht after Sheikh bin Rashid launched a bid to regain the title. Immediately upon hearing the rumor that the Sheikh was planning on having his yacht extended to recapture the title of “world’s biggest yacht” (the jokes are too easy) Roman ordered his yacht to dock in Barcelona and be hidden under scaffolding while undergoing $1 billion worth of renovations. Well maybe Roman is just trying to help ameliorate the Euro Crisis. Perhaps he also is refitting some of his 3 other mega-yachts in Greece?
